Paris : Masson 289-352 pls xv-xvi. [Griffin, F.J. 1939. On the dates of publication of Saussure (H. de): Etudes sur la famille des Vespides 1–3, 1852–1858. Journal of the Society for the Bibliography of Natural History 1: 211–212 (pages and plates published)] [328] [proposed with subgeneric rank in Alastor Lepeletier, 1841; placed on Official List of Generic Names in Zoology no. 1866, see International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1970. Opinion 893. Eumenidae names of Saussure(Hymenoptera): grant of availability to certain names proposed for secondary divisions of genera. Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 26: 187–191; van der Vecht, J. 1983. Ancistroceroides Saussure, proposed change of type species in order to preserve the well-established name Paralastor Saussure, 1856 (Hymenoptera, Vespoidea, Eumenidae). Z.N.(S.) 2280. Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 40: 111–113 states that Paralastor is undoubtedly a junior subjective synonym of Ancistroceroides Saussure, 1855, but in order to avoid the confusion which would be caused by implementing this synonymy (affecting the generic assignment of approximately 130 species), he requested that the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature use its plenary powers to designate an alternative type species for Ancistroceroides; Ancistroceroides would then be used for a small group of South American Eumenidae, and Paralastor would remain the valid name for the large Australian group; International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1985. Opinion 1363. Ancistroceroides Saussure, 1855 (Insecta, Hymenoptera): Type species designated. Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 42(4): 353–354 ruled Odynerus alastoroides Saussure, 1853 as type species of Ancistroceroides and the species Odynerus cruentus Saussure, 1855, previously designated as type species of Ancistroceroides in 1925, was set aside and transferred to Paralastor].
