Subfamily Polystomatinae Gamble, 1896

Introduction

Members of the subfamily Polystomatinae have a more or less pyriform body tapering anteriorly. Haptor discoid, bearing 3 pairs of suckers, each sucker may be provided with a centrally-placed larval hooklet. Testis reticulate or follicular.

Polystomatines are generally parasitic in urinary bladder of amphibians (Prudhoe & Bray 1982).
