Family CESTOPLANIDAE Lang, 1884
- Cestoplanidae Lang, 1884.
Type genus:
Cestoplana Lang, 1884.
Introduction
The family has previously been included in the Acotylea, despite its members possessing several cotylean-like characters. The family has been reassigned to the Cotylea, and is supported by application of cotylean diagnostic traits and genetic analyses. Several authors have proposed a superfamily Cestoplanoidea to accommodate the family, but Litvaitis et al. (2019) argue that as Cestoplanidae will be the only family in the group, elevation of a single family to superfamily is not warranted.
